Our Story

Before CardioCast, there was CycleCast, which was founded in 2014 with the goal of making high-quality cycling classes more convenient and affordable. Founder and CEO, Doug Lotz, had been regularly attending an indoor cycling class at his local gym, but when his favorite instructor left for an expensive boutique studio, he started looking for other options. 

Doug wanted a class that he could take on his phone that wouldn't kill his battery or eat into his data plan. Knowing that the best instructors don't rely on visual demonstration to teach, he looked for an audio-guided solution. When he couldn’t find anything that met the music or coaching standards he was used to, he set out to build it himself.

With the help of a team of talented engineers and expert indoor cycling coaches, CycleCast was launched in 2015 and has been delivering the best coaching and music of any audio fitness app ever since. It was designed to be easy to use - just select your instructor, select your ride time, and press play - and it was offered at a monthly subscription price that made it a fraction of the cost of attending boutique classes.

In 2019, CycleCast launched its first audio-guided running classes as part of a pilot program that would eventually set up the app’s transformation into CardioCast. CardioCast launched in early 2020, offering a variety of guided indoor and outdoor runs from world-class running coaches. The offering now includes a variety of class types for all fitness levels, including Bodyweight Boot Camp, Elliptical, Walk & Jog, Indoor and Outdoor Interval Runs, Yoga, and of course, Indoor Cycling.
